California Sea Grant Appoints New Program Analyst

Madelyn Roycroft is the new Program Analyst at California Sea Grant

California Sea Grant is pleased to welcome Madelyn Roycroft as the new Program Analyst for the Science Integration Team. 

Roycroft has a diverse background in marine science, habitat restoration, fisheries management, seaweed and shellfish aquaculture, and coastal policy and management. Madelyn has experience working with local, state, national, and international partners to identify new opportunities for collaborative environmental and community partnerships. She is also experienced with administering and managing research proposal processes and competitive coastal and marine science programs. 

She was previously a California Sea Grant State Fellow with the Port of San Diego, where she assisted with a variety of current and upcoming pilot projects to support the growth of shellfish and seaweed aquaculture in San Diego Bay and promote emerging blue technology businesses. “My recent experience as a California Sea Grant State Fellow at the Port of San Diego helped lay the foundation of my professional career and really set me up for success in marine and coastal resource policy and management,” said Roycroft. “I am so excited that I get to continue to be a part of California Sea Grant as a member of the Science Integration Team and join a program that reflects my interests, values and career goals. I am looking forward to utilizing my scientific expertise and skills in program administration, streamlining processes and workflows, science communication, and data science to help the program achieve its Strategic Goals.”

Roycroft earned a M.S. in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a B.S. in Environmental Science, with a minor in Art History and Marine Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
