Amanda Newsom earned her doctorate in ecology from UC Davis in 2011.
With the State Lands Commission, Newsom coordinated stakeholder meetings for the Marine Invasive Species Program, led legislative reports on ballast water treatment technologies, and analysed ships' compliance with California ballast water management regulations.
