Since graduating with a B.S. in Fisheries Management in 2013, Jason has spent the last 6 years working with threatened and endangered salmonids in California. After working as a field technician in watersheds across the state, including Klamath-Trinity, South Fork Eel, and Lagunitas Creek, he made his way to the Russian River watershed in the spring of 2017, where he first worked with Sonoma Water.

In 2019, Jason joined California Sea Grant's Russian River Salmon and Steelhead Monitoring Program team, where he spends the majority of his time gathering field data on local coho salmon and steelhead trout as they attempt to complete their life cycle. He is also responsible for construction and maintenance of the program's extensive collection of specialized field gear and equipment, including downstream migrant traps, electrofishing equipment and PIT antenna arrays.
